“I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.” John 12:46 ESV
“Through the heartfelt mercies of our God,
God’s Sunrise will break in upon us,
Shining on those in the darkness,
those sitting in the shadow of death,
Then showing us the way, one foot at a time,
down the path of peace.” Luke 1:79 MSG
Darkness, not the kind that we see at night, but the kind we see when our world comes crashing down and all of the sudden it is as if everything that shined into our life is covered with debris that blocks any light from coming in. We feel like we have been thrown in a pit, sealed in and left for dead. Have you ever felt that way? Have you ever thought that light would never return? Maybe you are there now…sitting in darkness.
I think we have all been there at some point in our lives, or maybe it seems like a place we visit far more than we want. The thing to remember when we get into those places, is that there is no pit too deep, no cavern too dark, no debris too thick that the light of Christ can’t shine through and reach us, lift us, and carry us.
Just over two yeas ago, my life was utterly shaken and I felt that I was thrown into the deepest pit imaginable and sealed with a cover nobody could lift. But, as I tumbled down into darkness, instead of finding a hard, cold, stone floor, I found safe, warm, secure, arms; the arms of Jesus. Through all this time and each day, even though much in my circumstances has not changed, I can truly say, out of this darkness, I have seen the beauty and light of Jesus in a way like never before.
My hope is that through this blog, sharing some of my journey with you, I will help you to know that you are not alone, and encourage you that God can bring something beautiful out of darkness.
